Santa Monica Police Seek Arson Suspect Who Set Five Fires in Two Hours in Santa Monica

A burning smell was apparent at Santa Monica High school Tuesday. Was it also the work of an arsonist?

On April 21, there were six fires in an hour in Santa Monica. Fire fighters say the only possible explanation is that someone is setting fires locally. Some suspect the local homeless community.

On April 19th, Santa Monica Police were searching for a suspected arsonist in the area of 4th and Wilshire. There is no description of the suspect; homeless people have been known to start fires locally however. 4 fires were reported Tuesday in the area of 4th and Wilshire.

There was an additional fire in the 1600 block of 7th street, not far from santa monica high school. Smoke and a burning smell were reported at SamoHi.

Additionally, there was a structure fire in the 200 block of 16th street Wednesday. It was not immediately evident whether or not it was related to the arsonist.
