6.8.23: A large number of Santa Monica Police gathered Thursday just South of the Santa Monica Pier. A "Code 3 Incident" was declared at 5:30 pm, after a beach brawl got out of control. Two men were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon (Cal. Penal Code §245). The SMPD stopped the combatants from fighting.

There was also an auto accident involving a lifeguard vehicle and a pedestrian. However, that would not be considered a "Code 3 Incident."

The Santa Monica Pier is a common locus of criminal activity in Santa Monica, due in part to the dense number of people present at that 100 year old tourist attraction.
