Santa Monica chapter of The Salvation Army Celebrates 130th year Anniversary

130 Years of local community service with a broad range of events in the coming months

Ubiquitous around the Christmas holidays with their bright Red Kettles and chiming bells, The Santa Monica chapter of The Salvation Army (TSA) is celebrating TSA's 130th year anniversary of local community service with a broad range of events in the coming months. These include an Open House at TSA's 4th St. Downtown Santa Monica location on May 17th from 10am -1pm, and in conjunction with the Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC), the opportunity to meet Special Guests, celebrities and recovery advocates Tim Ryan, Jennifer Gimenez-Ryan along with Comedian Jay Mohr, also on May 17th from 9am – 1 pm

More summer fun to come: a collaboration of local vendors, including Santa Monica-based global entertainment company Lionsgate, in conjunction with National Donut Day, will occur on Friday June 2nd at TSA's Downtown Santa Monica HQs, with the season of celebration wrapping up with the TSA's 130th anniversary Gala on Sept. 29th (Location TBD).

Salvation Army Capt. James Fleming added, "I couldn't be prouder of the work we've accomplished since coming to the Santa Monica Corps, continuing the worldwide mission of The Salvation Army. Our homeless outreach programs have successfully helped dozens of people get off the streets and into housing, treatment, and rehabilitation programs. My wife, Capt. Kat and I are honored to celebrate TSA's 130 years serving Santa Monica and the coastal Westside communities, assisting individuals and families in need. Please come join us during the fun events we have planned to mark this milestone in our local history. All are welcome."
