Car Versus Pedestrian Accident Closes Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica
The accident took place at the Crosswalk at Marguerita Avenue

Police use special equipment to photograph the car that hit the jogger and its placement on the street
September 29, 2023 - A car driving north on Ocean Avenue hit a pedestrian jogger in the crosswalk at Marguerita and Ocean Avenue this morning. The city sent out an alert at 8:58 am warning of a street closure due to a "traffic collision."

Police investigate the accident site with cameras and other equipment
A witness said the driver apparently did not see the jogger run into Ocean Avenue. The struck man rolled off the hood of the car. A Santa Monica Police officer at the site told the witness that he thought the victim had a broken leg. There were reportedly some injuries to his head as well causing bleeding. The individual was transported to an area hospital.
Ocean Avenue boasts new bicycle lanes, white bollards, and green paint to indicate new traffic patterns. The new infrastructure is not well understood by drivers or pedestrians and bicyclists.
