Obscure Corporation Seeks to Replace Sculpture at Windward and Ocean Front Walk, Venice Beach

Some believe 23 years for a temporary art installation is kind of enough, and that the rusty thing resembles a Tank barrier in Kyiv more than an art work.

An old rusting sculpture on Venice Beach has a Notice of Pending Demolition Permit on it.

The Notice was issued by the Cal. Coastal Commission, which wants to replace the artwork with other art. Some would probably prefer open space at the intersection of Windward and Ocean Front Walk in Venice.

The applicant for the permit is "LA Louver," which is a closed corporation. So no one is sure who's actually behind the move or what would follow it. According to the California Secretary of State, the registered agent for “LA LOUVER GALLERY INC” at the California Secretary of State, is an individual Venice resident. However it’s not clear that this is even the true applicant.

Many residents love the sculpture, whose V format is said to honor Venice Family Clinic. "Declaration" was installed on the boardwalk in 2001 in honor of the Venice Art Walk's 22nd year. It was only intended to be a display lasting six months, but it has remained remained an eye-catching bookend to Windward Ave." says a proponent. Others believe 23 years for a temporary art installation is kind of enough, and that the rusty thing resembles a Tank barrier in Kyiv more than an art work.
