Friday, March 8, 2024. Sunset (about 5:57 p.m.) to Midnight.

Pacific Park's Ferris wheel will light up the night for "International Women's Day" with a stunning display of purple, green and white colors, patterns and transitions on Friday, March 8.

"International Women's Day" is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. "International Women's Day" has occurred for well over a century, with the first observance in 1911, which was supported by over a million people. Today, the celebration belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. "International Women's Day" is not country, group or organization specific.

The special light program on the Ferris wheel features purple, green and white, the colors of International Women's Day that signify justice, dignity, and hope. The colors originate from the Women's Social and Political Union in the United Kingdom in 1908.

The "International Women's Day" celebration can be viewed online at https://www.pacpark.com/live.

The Pacific Wheel's 174,000 LED lights are mounted on the Ferris wheel's structure including the 40 spokes and two hubs. The world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel's lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations while the programming and display software presents imaging up to 24 frames per second to display dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment. The eco-friendly, enhanced LED lighting provides 81 percent greater energy savings than most Ferris wheel's traditional incandescent bulbs.
