Event at Annenberg Intended to encourage antisemitism, racism & violent terrorism against heterosexual people

Taxpayer Dollars Fund Radical Event at Santa Monica’s Annenberg Beach House

Santa Monica residents were left outraged this weekend after a taxpayer-funded event August 9th at the Annenberg Community Beach House promoted radical ideologies, including anti-Semitic literature and calls for violent insurrection, under the guise of an inclusive "Queer Surf Art Splash." The event, held Saturday night at the historic beachfront facility, has sparked a firestorm of criticism from local conservatives who argue that public funds are being misused to advance a fringe agenda at the expense of the broader community.

According to Dr. Houman David Hemmati, a local physician and vocal critic, the event featured disturbing materials, including copies of "Be Gay Do Crime," a 2019 anthology edited by Molly Llewellyn and Kristel Buckley. This publication, described by its supporters as a queer "insurrectionist" manual, contains stories that encourage criminal behavior and resistance against societal norms. Additional handouts included pro-Hamas propaganda titled "Mask Up: We Need You," linking the COVID-19 pandemic to the Palestinian struggle, and other literature promoting violence and exclusion. "This isn’t about diversity or inclusion," Hemmati wrote on X. "It’s about using our tax dollars—property taxes over $4,000 a month, sales tax above 11%—to fund antisemitism, racism, and terrorism against heterosexual Americans."

The Annenberg Beach House, a public facility originally donated to the city in 1975 by the Annenberg Foundation, has long been a cherished community asset. However, its recent hosting of this event has drawn scrutiny, especially given the foundation’s ties to elite figures like Wallis Annenberg, whose family has been accused by some of connections to globalist cabals and controversial cultural events, such as Marina Abramovic’s 2011 MOCA Gala, infamous for its cannibalistic performance art. Critics like Nathan Jugan, another X user, have pointed to the Annenbergs’ alleged role in jumpstarting Barack Obama’s political career, labeling him a "Manchurian Candidate" and suggesting a deeper conspiracy at play.

Conservative voices are demanding accountability from Santa Monica’s city council, including Mayor Lana Negrete and council members Jesse Zwick, Christine Torosis, and others, who have yet to respond to the backlash. "This is a betrayal of the hardworking taxpayers who foot the bill for these radical experiments," said local resident April Silverman. "The city is prioritizing a minuscule fraction of the population over families and traditional values." The event’s schedule, which included a "variety show hosted by Eve Swallows" and a "queer swim safety lesson," was marketed as a "body-positive space" for non-binary and transgender individuals, yet critics argue it excluded the majority of Santa Monica residents.

Data from a 2022 Journal of Cultural Economics study supports the concern, noting that municipal cultural funding typically constitutes less than 1% of budgets. With Santa Monica’s high tax rates, residents question whether this event justifies its cost or serves as a platform for leftist extremism. "This is what happens when progressive councils lose touch with their constituents," said Fit American, an X commentator. "Trump needs to step in and take back our cities."

Calls for investigation have already begun, with tags directed at the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security on social media. As the controversy unfolds, conservative leaders are vowing to fight what they see as a misuse of public resources, urging residents to demand transparency and a return to family-friendly programming at the Annenberg Beach House. For now, the city remains silent, leaving many to wonder how far this ideological overreach will go before it’s reined in.
