Trio Of Talent -Kris Kidder, Miguel Rojas and Eric Stinson
If you are a fan of comedy in the Los Angeles area, no doubt you have had the pleasure of witnessing comedian Chris Kidder on stage over the last six years, with his Jim Carey-esque expressions and curly mop (that gives Carrot Top a run for his money) he is a presence on stage. His comedy is self-deprecating, family friendly and often his beloved family are featured in his jokes. His stage presence is undeniably that of a natural comic. What's not to like?
I can personally attest that Chris is also a comics "friend".Always supporting other comedians at shows, even if he isn't on the lineup - He will literally lineup to show his support.
Kidder has now taken his comedic talents and created his first short movie, 'KIDDER'.
The movie tells the journey of how he got into stand up comedy.
I won't give spoiler alerts here, but it really is amazing what can happen when an entitled LA driver cuts you in the eternal Starbucks line! "No one messes with my daily Starbucks caffeine fix!" Said Kidder.
This leads to anger, anger leads to reflection and frustration. Kidder, like all the great comics, channeled these emotions into comedy. As the saying goes, "If you don't laugh - you will cry." He chose to laugh and got back in the driver's seat and set off on his comedic journey.
Having become a familiar figure on the tough LA comedy circuit, Kidder developed his short film which also has a mix of witty childlike animation with an adult voice, (Southpark fans will get it) that drives his points home into the correct parking spot!
Kidder came up with the concept with Eric Stinson and added long time pal and fellow hilarious comic Miguel Rojas shortly thereafter. Rojas joined the team as equal co-creator and also principal actor.
Eric and Kidder met in a comedy class and Kidder met Rojas at the famous Ice House Comedy Club.
"We hit it off instantly, I love these guys, they are funny, talented and did I mention they are my best friends?" Gushed Kidder.
Another best friend is Kidder's stunning wife Yvonne- Kidder calls her "My rock, my support, my everything." Yvonne has been the foundational support which both encouraged and inspired Chris to take the next step into film making.
His son Oliver, a huge influence and inspiration also has a cameo in the short movie as himself.
The screening of the short, which is to be a series, premiered at the Whitefire Theatre to a full house!
Guest included Mark Davis - Sony/Nickelodeon animator, Jeffrey Keller - comedian, Ksenia- comedian/singer, Greg Dean - professor of comedy, Dante Rusciolelli - comic, Irina Voronina - comic, Gary Robinson - Emmy nominated editor and comedian.
The Hollywood talent in attendance gave their support and encouragement including renowned Hollywood animator Mark Davis who praised Kidder's animation and fellow comedian and Emmy winning editor Gary Robinson also gave his seal of approval.
Kidder is now busy working on the next installment and busy producing, performing, writing, directing for his upcoming stage 2 of this promising series.
