Husband Kills Wife, Then Himself in Santa Monica Murder Suicide

Santa Monica cops say a husband fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself inside their home on the 3100 block of Pico Boulevard.

Officers were sent to the residence around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, for a welfare check. They found two adults - a married couple - dead inside.

Detectives determined the husband shot his wife, then killed himself. Investigators believe the shooting happened about 6:42 a.m. that same day, roughly 15 hours before police arrived. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Police called it an isolated incident. No one else was involved, and there is no ongoing threat to the public, the Santa Monica Police Department said.

The couple's names have not been released. Authorities are withholding identities pending official identification and notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The medical examiner will also determine official causes and manners of death.
