Shivon Zilis Says Elon has Moved On, Despite a Text Saying He Would Have Invited her to Beijing Had He Known Significant Others Were Included
A week after a, err, business trip to Beijing; Elon no longer follows Shivon, mother of 4 of his kids. She took that as proof that, well, he met someone else. Perhaps even in Beijing. Who hasn't Been there, done that, right? I mean, not with Elon necessarily, but with some other guy women find attractive..... Chads, right?
A week after Elon texted Shivon Zilis that he would’ve invited her to a dinner with Xi if he’d known partners were coming, he unfollowed her on X. She posted about it the same day, saying it was hard to go from in love to letting go in a week with no warning. " Shivon unfollowed Elon around 08:56 UTC first, and Elon unfollowed her back about a minute later. No public statements from either side so far," says Grok.
The messages she shared are from September 24. One says it was great to see him for breakfast and “Love you very much,” with hearts. He answers “Love you too.” Then he writes that he didn’t realize the Xi dinner included significant others—the Beijing one hadn’t—and would have invited her if he’d known. She replies that it means a lot.
On October 2, an account called Big Tech Alert pointed out he wasn’t following her anymore. She quoted it and wrote that she was glad she got to show him what it felt like to be understood and loved in a steady way, given how hard his early life was and how hard he pushes. She said their home was his place to recharge, that she loved him more than life itself, and that she hopes they can still be friends and raise their four kids together. She ended by wishing him well.
Zilis runs special projects at Neuralink and is the mother of four of his children: twins Strider and Azure, born in late 2021 through IVF, then Arcadia, then Seldon Lycurgus. She met him years ago through OpenAI work, later joined Neuralink, and has said the kids started with him offering to be a donor before the relationship turned romantic. They’ve spent time as a family in Austin.
The unfollow coming about a week after those texts is the sort of thing people take as a sign someone else showed up. The mention of Beijing makes the timing easy to notice. Most people have seen some version of this with a guy who seemed impossible to get over at the time—warm messages one week, silence the next. She put the screenshots and the “no warning” line out herself. He hasn’t said anything.
Shivon Alice Zilis, born February 8, 1986, in Markham, Ontario, is a Canadian technology executive of partial Indian descent. She graduated from Yale University in 2008 with degrees in economics and philosophy and played goalie for the university's ice hockey team. Her career has included work at IBM, a founding role as a partner at the venture firm Bloomberg Beta focused on machine intelligence, a stint as a project director on Tesla's Autopilot team, service on the OpenAI board until 2023, and her current position as director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, Musk's brain-implant company.
She and Musk share four children conceived via IVF: twins Strider and Azure, born in November 2021; daughter Arcadia, reported in 2024; and son Seldon Lycurgus, whose birth she announced in February 2025. Court documents and later public statements established the twins' parentage in 2022. In testimony during Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI earlier in 2026, and in accounts given to biographer Walter Isaacson, Zilis has described Musk initially offering to serve as a sperm donor amid his stated concerns about population decline, with the arrangement later developing into a romantic relationship. She has said they have spent family time together in Austin, Texas, where she lives.
Musk has not publicly commented on the October 2 post. Coverage of Zilis's message noted that she continues to be followed by figures including former OpenAI executive Mira Murati, AI researcher Andrej Karpathy, and Musk's brother Kimbal Musk.
