Scanner reports say the victim may have been inside a black Ferrari at Sunset and Holloway as sheriff's deputies search for suspects
Sheriff's deputies closed a stretch of Holloway Drive in West Hollywood on Thursday evening after reports of a shooting that left a man wounded in the back, possibly while he was inside a black Ferrari near the Fugazi store.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department units were on scene at Sunset and Holloway, according to Los Angeles Alerts, which monitors police radio traffic. Scanner reports said the victim was male and had been shot in the back, and that deputies believed he may have been shot inside a black Ferrari. Holloway Drive was closed between Palm Avenue and Hancock Avenue while deputies investigated.
Other early accounts placed the gunfire at the Fugazi retail store near 8750 Holloway Drive. Those reports said multiple shots were fired, one person was hospitalized, and deputies were looking for more than one suspect. A witness account that the Ferrari was struck by a getaway vehicle has not been confirmed.
Details were still shifting hours after the call. A deputy on scene told WEHOonline that investigators had not yet determined exactly what happened and that, as far as that deputy knew at the time, no one had been taken to a hospital. Radio traffic had initially described a man shot in the lower back in connection with the Ferrari. CBS News later reported that the victim had been hospitalized. The person's condition was not released, and authorities had not identified the victim.
West Hollywood is policed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood Station, not the Los Angeles Police Department. No official cause, suspect description, or arrest had been announced in the early reporting.
This story is based on scanner traffic and developing local reports and will be updated if the Sheriff's Department releases a formal account.
