    Observer Staff|Aug 22, 2016

Santa Monica resident Kate Grace has finished 8th in the finals of the 800 Meters. Her time was 159.59 seconds, a very respectable time and only 4.29 seconds behind the winner, muscular South African Caster Semenya, whose time was 155.28. The race itself was exciting, with so many top runners crossing the line nearly at once--far behind Semenya. Christine Emerson, Observer Staff Writer|Aug 22, 2016

A public school in California who'd directed an LA Deputy Sheriff to call on a seven-year-old boy to cease his sharing of religious literature has officially backed down on their restrictive attitude toward the bible. The deputy told the family that "someone might be offended." The issue began with the child sharing notes that his mother,...

    Christine Emerson, Observer Staff Writer|Aug 22, 2016

Democrats may publicly chide Aetna from pulling out of all but four states in the ACA exchanges, but privately they're breaking out the champagne, led by Nancy Pelosi, the Democrat representative from San Francisco who's credited with pushing the ACA, aka Obamacare, through a bitterly divided congress. Many observers of the health insurance reform have been convinced that Obama and his like-minded left-wing allies presented Obamacare as a "first step," a step expected - and quite possibly calcul...

She writes: " Our loss is your gain and we are so saddened to be losing Dr. Shelton," she says. "I am SURE he will do great things for your very large, diverse school district. Our kids thoroughly enjoy him! By the way, Mason, Ohio is a suburb in...

Just before 3 am Sunday morning, Ethiopian cab driver Asfawosen Alemseged picked up a passenger in downtown LA. They drove to a gas station in Hollywood. A fist fight erupted over whether the cab fare was too high, because it was "more than twice what Uber charges" to drive passengers from downtown LA to Hollywood.
