Bicyclist Helps to Catch Robber

Santa Monica Police say they responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery on March 13 at the 1900 block of 6th Street at 10 in the morning. Lawmen report the victim told them that a man grabbed her cell phone while she was waiting for a bus at the 1900 block of Lincoln Blvd. They say the victim ran after the suspect, Deantre Julian of Santa Monica, yelling at him to stop. Lawmen report bicyclist heard the commotion and started chasing Julian as well. They say the bicyclist and the victim trapped the Julian behind a secure gate in the 600 block of Pico Place. Lawmen report the suspect returned the stolen phone by sliding it under the gate. They say the victim used the phone to call police, but Julian was able to run away. Officers say they were able to catch Julian using the victim's description. Authorities say he was booked for strong-arm robbery and received a 76,000-dollar bail.

Bicycle Traffic Violation Leads to

Paraphernalia Charges

Santa Monica Police say they observed the suspect, James Loves of Los Angeles, riding a bike without a headlamp on the 1300 block of 5th Street on March 16 at 12:45 in the morning. Riding without a headlamp attached to the bicycle is a violation of the California Vehicle Code. Lawmen report that Love was on probation. Officers say they asked him if he had anything illegal in his possession and Love told them that he had a crack pipe in his pocket. Lawmen report they confiscated the pipe that was hidden in a cigarette pack. They say Love was charged with possession of paraphernalia and received a 10,000-dollar bail.

Man Ends Up in Jail After Refusing to Pay for Dinner

Santa Monica Police say the arrested a man accused of refusing to pay for his meal and drinks at a local restaurant. They say it happen on March 14 at Sonny McLeans at Wilshire Blvd at 9:20pm. Authorities report an employee told them that the suspect Craig Clark of Malibu, had bought approximately 40 dollars worth of food and alcohol and was refusing to pay. Officers say Clark told them he did not want to pay and wanted to go to jail instead. Lawmen say Clark was taken into custody for defrauding an innkeeper.

Threatening Twitter Posts Land 20-Year-Old Man in Jail

Los Angeles Police say their officers received information about a possible public safety Twitter post on March 12 at 9:30 in the morning. Lawmen report officers started investigation the Twitter account in question. They say during the investigation they discovered multiple pictures displaying an unknown type of rifle pointing in the direction for various Los Angles city streets with the captions: "100 RT's (Re-Tweets) and I'll shoot someone walking." Lawmen report that they were able to determine the location where the pictures were taken and were also able to identify the Twitter account user as Dakkari McAnuff of Los Angles. Officers say, they when to McAnuff's home on the 700 block of 9th Street where they say they also recovered an air rifle. Authorities say they arrested McAnuff for threatening to commit a crime. They say he was held in lieu of a 50,000-dollar bail
