'Princesses and Pirates' Brings Pop, Family Fun to the Stage

Starting the weekend of July 18, families are going to be able to experience the exciting combination of folklore, pop music and live audience sing-alongs.

Lythgoe Family Productions, along with The Pasadena Playhouse, are bringing the mythical, magic "Princesses and Pirates Sing-a-long Concert" to Culver City at the Kirk Douglas Theatre.

"Princesses and Pirates Sing-Along Concert" is based on a variety of fairytales – however, each has been updated to fit today's modern pop culture landscape. Children will be able to identify their favorite princesses, but they might not be able to recognize them when they sing Top 40 hits such as Katy Perry's "Firework" or Lady Gaga's "Applause."

The cast to the show is also star-studded, with actors from television shows such as "Glee" and "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." There are several Broadway veterans peppering the cast as well, with experience ranging from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," "Wicked" and "Shrek the Musical."

The Lythgoe family is no stranger to family theatre in the Los Angeles area. They have presented shows like Aladdin and His Winter Wish" and "A Snow White Christmas" at The Pasadena Playhouse, and previously "A Cinderella Christmas" and "A Snow White Christmas" at the El Portal Theatre.

Parents and their little princesses or princes are guaranteed to have a great time at this event. "Princesses and Pirates" will show at the Kirk Douglas Theatre for four weekends from July 18 to Aug. 10. The Kirk Douglas Theatre is located at 9820 W Washington Blvd. Culver City, 90232. Tickets are $29.00 for children 12 and under, $39.00 for all other patrons
