"The Difference Between Abraham Lincoln and Hillary. He Never Lied. . . You'd Be In Jail If I Were President"

Wounded before the debate Trump comes out swinging. Live Blogging the Second Debate

Wounded before the debate, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump came out swinging in Sunday night's debate. He was on his game, and Hillary Clinton's smiles seemed a little insincere.

Trump also attacked the moderators for perceived unfairness, saying it was "three against one."

As they entered the debate hall to applause, Clinton and Trump did not shake hands. Clinton merely nodded at Trump, who slowed when it became clear that she would not be extending her hand. Then they simply stood, somewhat awkwardly, a few feet apart, as the crowd applauded.

When asked by Anderson Cooper if he had actually done the things he claimed to do in a recently leaked audio — like groping women’s genitals without their consent — Trump responded: “No, I have not.”

The declaration came after Trump initially denied having said that he had demonstrated such behavior.

“No, I didn’t say that at all,” Trump said in response to Cooper’s question about the tape. “This was locker room talk.”

“This is locker room talk,” Trump repeated over and over.

He then began to list atrocities committed by ISIS, such as beheadings. He then pivoted back to the tape.

“Yes, I’m very embarrassed by it, I hate it, but it’s locker room talk,” Trump said. “I will knock the hell out of ISIS.”

Clinton responds to the video

“I spent a lot of time thinking over the last 48 hours about what we heard and saw,” Clinton said in response to Trump’s comments. “You know, with prior Republican nominees for president, I disagreed with them on politics, policies and principles, but I never quiet their fitness to serve. Donald Trump is different.”

Trump’s comments, Clinton went on, “represent who he is.”

She then went on to note other groups Trump has targeted with vitriol.

“It's not only women,” Trump said. “Because he has also targeted immigrants, African-Americans, Latinos, people with disabilities, POWs, Muslims and so many others. So this is who Donald Trump is.”

“Never anyone in the history of politics in the nation that has been so abusive to women,” Trump said of Bill Clinton. “Bill Clinton was abusive to women.”

“Hillary Clinton attacked those same women viciously, four of them here tonight,” Trump said. Trump invited four women to attend, including three who had accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault. The other was raped when she was 12 years-old by a man who was defended in court by a young Hillary Clinton.

“I think it's disgraceful and she should be ashamed of herself if you want to know the truth,” Trump said.

If Trump is elected, he said, he will appoint a special prosecutor with the aim of putting Clinton in prison for her actions related to keeping a private email server during her time as secretary of state. The use of the server was investigated by the FBI, which decided not to press charges.

“I didn't know I would say this, but I'm going to and I hate to say it,” Trump said. “If I win, I am going to instruct my Attorney General to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation. There has never been so many lies, so much exception. There has never been anything like it. We will have a special prosecutor.”

“You should be ashamed,” Trump repeated.

Clinton called Trump’s accusations “absolutely false.”

“It's just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country,” Clinton said.

Trump fired back: "Because you would be in jail.”

Clinton: It's about Trump, not Bill

Clinton ignored Trump’s broadsides against her husband, who is not a candidate for president.

“First let me start by saying that so much of what he just said is not right, but he gets to run his campaign any way he chooses,” Clinton said. “He gets to decide what he wants to talk about instead of answering people's questions and laying out the plans that we think can make a better and a better country. That's his choice. When I hear something like that, I am reminded of what my friend Michelle Obama advised us all. When they go low, you go high.”

She went on to say that Trump never apologizes, including for his lie about the president’s birthplace.

Trump: Clinton is “the devil”

Trump shot back that Clinton is the one who should apologize for the birther lie, and then stated that Michelle Obama is not actually Clinton’s friend.

What specific tax provisions should be changed to make sure the wealthiest Americans pay their taxes?

Trump: "Why didn't you change the US Tax code when you were a Senator? Because you and all your friends at Goldman Sachs take advantage of the same provisions I do. We're getting rid of 35% taxes and bringing ti down to 15% for the middle class while Hillary is raising taxes."

"Yes, I used the $916 million write off to avoid paying taxes, like the people that give her all these donations. Hillary's friends want the carried interest provision, which I believe Hillary's leaving. I absolutely used it, as did Warren Buffet and George Soros, and the others Hillary is getting $ from."

Clinton"Donald lives in an alternative reality. He has not paid taxes himself for 20 years. His plan would give the rich a massive tax cut, the biggest one in history and would end up raising taxes on millions of middle class families

I have said the vast majority of americans who make less than $250,000 a year would not have their taxes raised.

And yes, when I was a senator, I did vote to close loopholes. I want to raise taxes on millionaires, I want a surcharge on incomes above $5 million. It's unfortunate but since the great recession the gains have all gone to the top. We're going to make sure everyone pays their fair share."

Trump: "She has made bad judgment not only on taxes, but on Libya on Iraq, the vacuum they left there is the reason Isis is there.

Clinton: Look, he has now said repeatedly 30 years this and that. So let me talk about my 30 years of service. I worked as first lady to change our adoption and foster care system. Children have safer medicine because I passed a law that made the dosing for children more careful. National Guardsmen have health insurance because of me. As Sec of State I negotiated an arms reduction treaty with Russia.

400 pieces of legislation have my name on it because I worked to have them passed as a sponsor. As President I will take that finding common ground to get along with people in Washington and for 30 years I have produced results.

Raddatz: A 4 year old boy with his bandaged head has more hits that any other in the history of Facebook. Dianne from Penn says, if you were president, what would you do with Aleppo? isn't it like the Holocaust where the US waited too long to intervene

Clinton: In Aleppo there are 250,000 still left and a determined effort by the Russian airforce to destroy teh rest to eliminate the rebels that are left. They don't care about Aleppo. I have advocated and I advocate a no fly zone. We have to work more closely with our partners and allys on the ground. But what is at stake here is the ambitions and aggressiveness of the Russians. Russia has decided it's all in in Syria, and they have decided who that want as President and it's not me.

We got the lid on Iran's nuclar ambitions without firing a shot, through negotiations"

Trump: She talks tough about the rebels. She doesn't even know who the rebels are. Look at what happened in Libya. The rebels are worse than Qadafi. Just take a look at Russia. We sign a peace treaty with Assad, and by the way with Iran, and you signed the worst deal in history. So look at that deal now, Iran and Russia are now signing deals.

I don't like Assad at all, but Assad is killing isis. Iran is killing isis. Russia is killing isis.

Raddatz: Provocations by Russia need to be met with military force, so said your running mate.

Trump: I haven't spoken to him, but I disagree. General Patton is spinning in his grave, at the stupidity of announcing in advance we're going to invade Mosul

Clinton: I would not use American ground forces in Syria. I don't think American troops should be holding ground, which is what they would be doing. I do think the use of special trainers for the rebels would be useful.

I hope by the time I am president, that we will have pushed ISIS out of Iraq. Donald says he knows more about ISIS than the generals, no he doesn't. I would go after Baghdadi. Because I think our targeting of Al Qaeda has made a difference. I would also consider arming the Kurds, I know there is some concern about that, but I think that the Kurds is the principal way that we take Raqqa, after we push them out of Iraq.

Do you believe you can be a devoted president for all the people of the US," asked Carter, an African Americans man

Trump: I will be a devoted for all the people. I would bring jobs back, she has lied about a lot of things. I would be a president for all the people, African Americans, the inner cities. Same with the Latino Americans, they talk, she talks they don't get it done. African Americans, now 45% poverty in the inner cities.

She's been talking about the big cities for 30 years. Nothing is going to happen. By doing all the others favors she's doing me favors.

Clinton: 67% of the people voted to reelect me for my second term. Mr. Carter, I have tried very hard to do all I can for African Americans and other people. I started off as a young lawyer working against discrimination against African Americans I have worked for Latinos in South Tx working to register

So I have a deep devotion to use your absolutely correct word. A lot of letters I get, people are worried they wouldn't have a place in Donald Trump's America. A young boy asked me, would he send me back to Ethiopia if he gets elected? Teachers are calling it the Trump effect, bullying is up. I will do everything I can to reach out to every American. I want to be the best president I can be for all Americans

Anderson Cooper: You have written off tens of millions of Americans as deplorables. How can you run a country that way?

Clinton: I'm proud of the campaign that Bernie Sanders and I ran, we ran on issues not insults. We believed we could make the country better

Trump: We have a divided nation. A very divided nation. You take a look at Georgia, at Chicago, at DC. We have a divided nation because people like her and believe me, people like her have a lot of hate in her heart. She said irredemible, people like her have

Cooper: Is tht the discipline of a good leader, to send out tweets at 3 am?

Trump: Tweeting is a very effective form of communication

Cooper: Mrs. Clinton, does Mr. Trump have the disciplien to be a good president?

Clinton: No

Trump: Oh, I'm surprised to hear that

Clinton: I worked with Mayor Guliani after 9/11. And I stuck with Barack Obama. That was a terrible time for our country. We are back on the right track, he would

Trump: Since 1929, our country has the slowest growth

Raddatz: Beth Miller has a question: What would you prioritize is the most important questions to ask a Supreme Court justice

Clinton: I want to appoint SC justices who were not just clerks for a judge and then were on the

So I would like to see the SC reverse Citizens United and get dark money out of our system. So that dead people can't vote. I want a supreme court that will stick with Roe v. Wade. Donald has put forth names he would consider, people who would take us backwards, reverse Roe v. Wade and reverse marriage equality. The Sen has not done it's job and have not given (Merrick Garland) a vote to give the SC a full complement of jsutices. If I become Pres I will immediately move to fill the vacancy

Justice Scalia died recently. I am looking to appoint justices very much in the mold of Justice Scalia. And I've picked ten fo them who are highly respected and will respect the constitution of the United States and also respect the Second Amendment, which is under seige by Hillary Clinton

I will have more on that.

Carl Becker: What do you respect about each other?

Clinton: I respect his children, as a mother and a grandmother, family is very important to me. He has some great children. This election has become so conflict driven, because there is a lot at stake, we are choosing a president who will set policy not just for 4 or 8 years, but there is a lot at stake, it's the most consequential election. And that's why I hope people will check on that for themselves.

Trump: I consider her comment about my children to be a very big compliment. I will say this about Hillary, she doesn't quit, she doesn't give up. She's a fighter, I respect that. She does fight hard and she doesn't give up and she doesn't quit and
