Pilgrim Lutheran Church Celebrates 105 Years in Santa Monica
The church's 50 stained glass windows were hand crafted in Belgium, using all hand-blown, antique glass

Pilgrim Lutheran Church celebrated its 105 Anniversary on May 5, 2019 with a special sermon by Rev. Dr. Micheal Gibson, the president of the Pacific SW district of Lutheran Missouri Synod. A community luncheon followed the service.
The original church built in 1919 was on 14th street and Arizona.
The present building was rebuilt after the Northridge Earthquake at 1730 Wilshire Blvd, with many stained glass windows representing Biblical stories and themes. It the first church to be constructed on Wilshire Blvd.
The church is an all inclusive family organization.Their activities range from a Wednesday night Bible study class, Prime Time a Bible study class which meets on Thursday from 11-1 for senior citizens, and a Bible study class on Sunday for the adults, while their children are in Sunday School.
Pilgrim Lutheran Church celebrates many special events throughout the year- a Dodger Game, a trip to the art museum, and certain one time seasonal local activities. These include the holidays with their festive celebrations.
"Pilgrim’s beloved stained glass windows have been ours to enjoy and take inspiration from since the Church was dedicated in 1953. The more than 50 stained glass windows were hand crafted in Belgium, using all hand-blown “antique” glass, whose natural imperfections add to their great beauty. Our current restoration project is bringing even more brilliance to our windows."

I believe that "Pilgrim" is a perfect name for our church because pilgrims are what we all are. Sojourners, travelers, searchers. And for good reason.
The Bible says, "There is no permanent city for us here on earth; we are looking for the city which is to come." Hebrews 13:14. It is the impermanence of earthly life that prompts our search for the permanent.
Why search alone? Come be a pilgrim with us. We have a guide to the permanent, the One who called himself "The Way", Jesus Christ.
If you've been wandering aimlessly, why not join our pilgrimage? We're a company of believers who know where we are going while enjoying every minute along the way.
