Calendar: Fairview Library Presents Music and Movement at the Library

Plus, Learn a Ukelele at the Library in the new year!

Join us for a musical story time that will have little ones singing and dancing along as they learn important early literacy concepts at the Fairview Library on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 3:30 pm.  This free, 30-minute program is for children ages 18 months to 5 years old and will be held in the Community Room.  The Fairview Library is located at 2101 Ocean Park Blvd.  

Fairview Branch Library presents Preschool Explorers: Ice Age

Learn about life during the Ice Age and free a toy animal from the ice at this story time with hands-on activity at the Fairview Library on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 3:30 pm. This free, 45-minute program will be held in Fairview's Community Room and is for children ages 3-6.

We hope you will join us for the Youth of the Year Dinner, as we culminate the 2020 Youth of the Year awards & celebrate the exceptional achievements of our Youth!

Learn the Ukulele at the Library

SMPL begins a 4-week series of ukulele classes for children, teens and adults beginning Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. 

Instructor Heidi Swedberg teaches you how to play the "happiest instrument in the world." Each session begins with a mini lesson, followed by a strum-along with your favorite songs. Bring your own ukulele or borrow one of ours. Space and instruments are limited and on a first-arrival basis.

The series takes place on four consecutive Saturdays, January 11, 18 & 25 and February 1. Times, age groups, and locations are as follows:

·         10:15 to 10:45am: Ukulele Petting Zoo, Ages 5 & under with participating adult

Youth Activity Room

·         11:00 to 11:45am: Ages 6-12

Youth Activity Room

·         12:15 to 1:30pm: Teens & Adults
