Two Palm Springs Gay Nightclubs Closed After 2 Employees Contract Covid19

One possible explanation for Gov. Gavin Newsom's Recent Order Closing Nightclubs.

Two gay clubs in Palm Springs down again Saturday, because employees contracted covid 19. Hunters Streetbar said it would temporarily close on Saturday, so that other employees who were in contact with the two infected employees could be tested.

Desert resort Palm Springs California was pretty hoping place one recent Saturday night. Riverside regards itself as rather hard hit, but a walk down Palm Canyon Drive revealed a few hundred people walking up and down the main drag. Restaurants and bars were open, seating people outside.

California Gov. Gavin Newsome recently ordered bars, brewhouses, wineries and the like closed due to Covid-19. They had only recently been allowed to reopen.

"Hunters' owners, management and staff are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our employees and guests by taking the necessary precautionary measures," management wrote on Facebook.

It is unclear how many employees have been in contact with the two employees who tested positive. Reopening dates were not given.

On Facebook, Streetbar posted that its infected employee called in sick on June 19 and has not worked since then. The bar learned of his positive test on Saturday and closed the establishment. Chill Bar management posted on Facebook that no employees tested positive for COVID-19 as of Saturday evening, but they would temporarily close too.

"Before we need to come to you with news of positive test results, we'll take a break now. We look forward to seeing everyone again when we can welcome you back safely," management wrote on Facebook.

The closures come amid a sharp increase in positive cases throughout California. On downtown Palm Springs' Palm Canyon Drive, masks worn by a few folks did underscore that this was 2020, not 2019.

A group of sorority sisters from LA wore orange T-Shirts, as they waited to get into a bar and celebrate one of their members weddings. Most people were not wearing masks, though all the hosts and servers at restaurants that we saw, were masked.
