Violence in Baja California Prompts US to Issue Safety Warning to US Citizens

U.S. Consulate General Tijuana is instructing American government employees to shelter-in-place until further notice after reports of violence in parts of Baja California, officials said.

8.13.22: The US Consulate in Tijuana Mexico is advising US government employees to shelter in place and follow the directions of local officials. This as violence breaks out in Ensenada, Mexicali, Tijuana and other Northern Baja communities.

"The cartels are unhappy because the Mexican police arrested a high ranking drug official," explained one source on Twitter. Burning tires, roadblocks and gunfire are reported throughout the Mexican state of Baja, California.

"Caution, there is a simultaneous attack in Tijuana, Mexicali and Tecate. They report that public transport units are being set on fire and the passage lowered with violence," tweeted Baja Ahora.

The violent day in Baja California -which left no deaths- occurred a day after Ciudad Juárez was shaken by various armed attacks with a balance of 11 dead , including a radio announcer and a minor, as well as burned businesses.
