Homeless person starts and extinguishes a small fire near Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier Friday evening

Meanwhile, A traffic collision at Hollister and Neilson Way injured 4 people Friday evening

An investigation into smoke turned up a fire on the Santa Monica Pier. It was later extinguished by the same individual who started it. He or she fled southbound according to Pacific Park employees. Pacific Park security were pursuing the individual who started the fire.

Harbor Patrol reported a battery in the same area, saying that they may be related.

A traffic collision at Hollister and Neilson Way injured 4 people Friday evening. An additional engine and ambulance requested for a total of 4 patients. 1 patient was transported with minor injuries to St. John's Medical Center.
