Brother Kills Brother in Venice Shooting. Suspect, Who did not Live in the Same Home, Initially Fled the Scene.

A suspect in last Sunday's shooting death of a man in Venice has turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department and he may be related to the victim, authorities announced this week.

The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on March 26 in the 400 block of Indiana Avenue. At the scene, "patrol officers found a man in his 50s who had been shot, and citizens were providing aid," according to the LAPD statement.

Police officers "continued life saving measures" until paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after, said LAPD. The name of the victim has not yet been released by authorities.

The suspect had left the area before the officers arrived, LAPD said.

But two days later, on March 28, the suspect turned himself in at the Pacific Community Police Station, according to LAPD. Donald Ray Boyce, a 57-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was booked on murder charges.

LAPD investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a family dispute that turned violent since both Boyce and the victim did not reside at the location.

Murder charges were filed again Boyce on March 30 by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office and his bail was set at $2 million, authorities said.
