SMPD Finds Remains of Man Missing Since an Uber Dropped Him Off 18 Months Ago

Beau Mann, 39, vanished in December of 2021. His remains were found at 2900 Santa Monica Blvd, in the courtyard of an abandoned building.

On November 30, 2021, 39-year-old Beau Mann vanished in Los Angeles. He had just been dropped off by an Uber. The Santa Monica police announced on Twitter Monday morning that they had positively identified human remains found in Santa Monica two weeks ago, as Mann.

Nearly a year and a half after Beau Mann, the founder of a digital health company, went missing from his Uber ride in November 2021, authorities located his remains in a courtyard area near an abandoned building in Santa Monica.

Jason Abate told Dateline he last spoke to his fiance Beau Mann on November 29, the day before his disappearance. "He told me he was going to bed," Jason said. But he hasn't heard from Beau since that night.

The SMPD did not say whether Mann's death was being investigated as a crime. The tweet from the Santa Monica Police dated May 8th reads as follows:

"On April 25th, 2023, the Santa Monica Police Department received information that human remains were found in the courtyard of an abandoned property in the 2900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

"The Los Angeles County Coroner took possession of the remains and are currently working to determine the cause of death. On May 6, 2023, the Coroner positively identified the remains as those of Beau Mann (DOB: 2/21/1982).

"Mann, who was last seen on November 30, 2021, was reported missing to the Los Angeles Police Department on December 4, 2021.

"Anyone with any information pertaining to this incident or person(s) involved is strongly encouraged to contact SMPD Detective Ismael Tavera at 310-458-2256, Ismael.tavera@santamonica.gov, or the Watch Commander (24 hours) at 310-458-8427."
