”We responded to assist with a report of a suspicious package containing white powder.  The substance was collected by the Fire Department and we have since cleared the call,” wrote Erika R. Aklufi, Lieutenant, Office of the Chief of Police, Santa Monica Police Department at 1:41 pm PST.

“Santa Monica Fire units were dispatched to a reported “Haz-Mat Level 2” located at 2700 Colorado Blvd. DBA “Lionsgate Pictures”   On scene fire units investigated an unknown substance and determined that there was no threat to the public,” wrote SMFD’s Administrative Battalion Chief Danny Caldwell, at about the same time.

Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation, doing business as Lionsgate, is a Canadian-American global mass media and entertainment company. Its US headquarters are on Colorado Ave in Santa Monica.

It is unclear whether the incident is connected to an entertainment industry writers and actors strike, now in its sixth month.
