In Australia, NSW at least, you are legally allowed to drive an unregesterd vehicle used for fire fighting during a designated emergency, on the public roads for up to 100 km. It has to be roadworthy with brakes, lights etc. the ruling also covers appliances such as a fire trailer etc.

Any Comercial vehicle coming in to California has to be smog legal, I don't think all the vehicles California owns has to get smoged, they should of told them not come, so it was a waste of there time and money gas/diesel

The statements made regarding fire trucks from Oregon were held up due to inspections from CalFire inspectors. I read this on Oregon.gov. They are supposedly on scene in L.A. now and have begun helping fight the fires.

Californians need to put sacramento through a full housecleaning when this is over. They talk about firing newsom but he is just a figurehead, the problem is much larger. This problem also extends into the UC system and into tribal politics.
