Flight with Ten People on Board Found on the Ice 12 Miles Offshore, Enroute to Nome Alaska

Cessna ceased location transmission at roughly 3:20 p.m. over Norton Sound

2.7.25 5 pm PST: A crashed plane with three deceased individuals was found in Alaska, but the search for the remaining seven people is ongoing. The aircraft was reported missing while carrying ten people, including a pilot, during a flight from Unalakleet to Nome.

The flight departed Unalakleet around 2:37 p.m. local time (537 pm PST), and was expected to reach Nome by 4:20 p.m. However, the aircraft, identified as a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX with the registration N321BA, ceased location transmission at roughly 3:20 p.m. over Norton Sound.

The aircraft shown in the accompanying image is the one involved in this incident.

Search and rescue operations are currently in progress. An HC-130J C2003 from the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak is now aiding in the search efforts over Norton Sound. Per ABC News' Anchorage, "Crews in Nome, Alaska, are conducting search and rescue operations after the report of a missing Bering Air caravan with 10 people aboard."

A Bering Air flight carrying ten people went missing near Nome, Alaska, after failing to land as scheduled. Search and rescue efforts are currently underway, with authorities working to locate the aircraft, which may have been affected by adverse weather conditions.
