Rite-Aid Store on Wilshire and 14th Street in Santa Monica Will closes permanently on May 28, 2025.

Rite-Aid Drugstore will close permanently on May 28th, 2025, a store employee confirmed for The Observer.

The Rite Aid at 1331 Wilshire Boulevard, near the intersection of Wilshire and 14th Street in Santa Monica, is scheduled to close permanently at the end of May 2025.

A notice posted at the store indicates that prescriptions will be transferred to the CVS at 1411 Lincoln Blvd starting May 29, 2025. The store remains open with normal hours as of May 5 2025, but many shelves are empty and staff have confirmed the closure is expected to proceed as planned.

Rite Aid is not currently in bankruptcy. The company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2024, having reduced approximately $2 billion in debt and secured $2.5 billion in exit financing.

However, reports from April 2025 indicate Rite Aid is considering a potential repeat bankruptcy filing or selling parts or all of its business, as the recent restructuring did not achieve a sustainable financial path.

If a sale does not materialize, further store closures are possible.
