Santa Monica, CA — April 5, 2026The Santa Monica Pier was briefly evacuated Saturday evening following a reported bomb threat, prompting a swift police response and a search of the popular tourist destination.According to the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD), officers received the report of a potential bomb threat directed at the pier at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. SMPD personnel arrived on scene immediately and, in coordination with specialized units, conducted a thorough sweep of the area.
After the investigation, authorities determined the threat was not credible. No explosive devices or other hazards were found, and no injuries were reported.
While the pier remained open throughout much of the assessment, portions of the area were temporarily cleared out of an abundance of caution as officers worked to ensure public safety.
