Two Suspects in Lululemon Theft Lead Police on Wild Pursuit Through Santa Monica, Crashing Into Holiday Motel on Pico & 11th St.

SANTA MONICA - A bold retail theft at the Lululemon store in downtown Santa Monica Tuesday afternoon 4.14.26, triggered a high-speed police pursuit that ended dramatically at the Holiday Motel on Pico Boulevard and 11th Street.

According to Santa Monica Police, two men stole approximately $3,000 worth of merchandise from the popular athletic apparel store. They fled the scene in a black Mercedes-Benz.

An SMPD officer quickly spotted the vehicle and began pursuing it eastbound on Pico Boulevard. The chase intensified near the intersection of Pico and Lincoln Boulevard, where the suspects allegedly ran a red light and collided with a cement mixer.

Despite the impact, the Mercedes continued, sustaining at least one additional collision before the driver veered off the roadway and crashed directly into the Holiday Motel property at Pico and 11th.

Both suspects then abandoned the heavily damaged vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued them into and around the motel area.One suspect was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. The second suspect remains at large as of late Tuesday night.Police recovered the stolen Lululemon merchandise along with the black Mercedes involved in the crashes. No immediate information was released on the extent of any injuries from the collisions or the identity of the suspects.

The incident drew significant attention in the neighborhood, with news helicopters circling overhead as officers secured the scene at the motel - a location that has seen frequent police activity in the past.
