SamoHi Graduation 2026: Santa Monica High School Celebrates Class of 2026 at the Greek Theatre

Around 600 students, 51 of them Straight A Class Valedictorians, celebrated the end of their SMMUSD experience on Tuesday, June 10th

Santa Monica High School (Samohi) proudly conferred diplomas on its Class of 2026 during a vibrant commencement ceremony held on Tuesday, June 10, 2026, at the historic Memorial Greek Theatre on campus. The evening event, which began at 5:30 p.m., drew hundreds of proud families, faculty, and community members to honor the district's largest high school graduating class.

The ceremony featured inspiring remarks from SMMUSD Superintendent Dr. Antonio Shelton, who congratulated the graduates for their resilience, determination, and achievements through challenging times. Shelton emphasized the importance of the milestone in a message to the school community, highlighting years of hard work, growth, and perseverance that prepared students for college, careers, and beyond.

This year, 51 students had straight "A" GPAs. Samohi's valedictorians and student speakers addressed their classmates with reflections on their shared journey, offering messages of hope, gratitude, and excitement for the future.

The event blended tradition with personal stories, including cultural stole ceremonies and acknowledgments of students from diverse pathways such as Career Technical Education, Project-Based Learning, and Dual Immersion programs.

While exact graduate counts vary slightly by source, reports indicate over 600 diplomas were awarded to the Samohi Class of 2026, reflecting a strong cohort ready to take on new challenges.

Many graduates participated in pre-ceremony traditions, including "Clap Out" visits to their former elementary schools in caps and gowns, symbolizing the full arc of their K-12 experience in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.

The ceremony was followed by an all night grad party and bonfire on campus. This is the 132nd graduating class of Santa Monica High School.
