Reports of Bomb Threat at Milken Community School on Mulholland Drive Turns Out to be a Hoax

Developing reports circulate on social media of a possible call-in threat at the private Jewish school in the Bel Air area; no official confirmation from school or police as of Monday afternoon.

Update 2:22 pm PST: LAPD has confirmed the incident at Milken Community School was a hoax.According to ABC7, a call about a supposed active shooter around 1 p.m. at the school on Zeldins Way triggered a lockdown and a large police response. When officers arrived, no threat was found. LAPD described it as an apparent swatting call (a fake emergency report to 911). The school is a private Jewish middle and high school in the Brentwood/Bel Air area.

Earlier social media reports had described both a possible bomb threat and an active-shooter response; these aligned with the same hoax call that prompted the lockdown. No actual threat, shooter, or explosives were present. The lockdown has been resolved. This matches the pattern of other recent school swatting/hoax calls in the region. Official channels have now clarified the outcome.

Social media posts Monday afternoon described an unconfirmed bomb threat at Milken Community School, the private Jewish middle and high school located on Mulholland Drive in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles.

A post from one user stated there was a bomb threat at the school, noting it was developing, details were not confirmed, and it may have involved the middle school. The account described the report as likely stemming from a phone call and characterized such incidents as frustrating, while emphasizing the school's prominence in the local Jewish community. No additional corroborated details have emerged on public platforms.

As of early evening Monday, October 12, 2026, no official statement has been issued by Milken Community School, the Los Angeles Police Department, or other law enforcement agencies confirming a threat, lockdown, evacuation, or search. The school's student newspaper and main website show no related updates. Local news outlets have not published confirmed reports of the incident.

Milken Community School serves grades 6–12 on a campus near Mulholland Drive and is one of the larger Jewish day schools in the United States. Past security-related events at the school have included brief lockdowns tied to nearby police activity rather than bomb threats.

Phoned-in bomb threats at schools are frequently investigated and later determined to be hoaxes or "swatting" calls. In recent weeks, several California schools, including one in South Los Angeles, have responded to similar reports that authorities cleared as not credible after searches. Jewish institutions nationwide have also faced a series of such threats in the past year, most of which have not involved actual devices.

Authorities typically treat every report as serious until cleared. Parents and community members are advised to rely on official communications from the school or law enforcement rather than unverified social media posts. This remains a developing situation.
