SMPD Charges Robert Fremlin with attempted murder

Officers placed Kevin Robert Fremlin under arrest for the assault and transported him to the Santa Monica Police Department. Fremlin was booked for 664/187(a) PC – Attempt Murder.

Santa Monica Police say they have arrested Robert Fremlin, for the attempted murder of a 56 year old homeless man. The arrest occurred in the Alley behind 11th Street near Colorado Avenue. They made the arrest on 12th and Wilshire hours later.

The press release reads as follows:

On Monday, February 17, 2020 at approximately 6:00am, the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Alley 12 regarding a subject down.

Upon arrival, officers located a 56 year old male lying on the ground with a blanket. Officers contacted the man and found that he appeared to be the victim of a serious assault. The victim, who was conscious and speaking with officers, suffered what appeared to be blunt force trauma to his upper body, including his face and head.

While on scene, the victim was able to provide officers with a detailed description of the suspect involved in this assault as well as an account of the events of the incident. Officers searched the area and were able to locate a subject who matched the description of the suspect in the area of 12th Street and Wilshire Boulevard. Officers detained the subject and were able to determine his involvement in the assault.

Officers placed Kevin Robert Fremlin

Robert Fremlin under arrest for the assault and transported him to the Santa Monica Police Department. Fremlin was booked for 664/187(a) PC – Attempt Murder.

On 2/19/2020, Detectives from the Santa Monica Police Department presented this case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The LA District Attorney filed the following charges against Kevin Fremlin:

Count 1: 664/187(a) PC – Attempt Murder

Count 2: 205 PC – Aggravated Assault

Count 3: 245(a)(1) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Fremlin is being held on $1,050,000 bail.
