Downtown Santa Monica Inc. Launches Satellite Outdoor Dining Locations on Third Street Promenade

Downtown restaurants to serve guests at expanded dining locations along the world-famous public street

Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. (DTSM) in collaboration with the City of Santa Monica have announced expanded outdoor dining along the world-famous Third Street Promenade in efforts to support restaurants as they reopen and recover from the economic impacts of the pandemic and to provide residents and visitors more space to dine under the California sunshine. The dining expansion allows restaurants on and around the Promenade to create new "satellite" locations along the iconic public street, making prime outdoor dining locations available to restaurants that might not otherwise have access to the space needed to create patios and outdoor seating.

"Adapting public space for expanded outdoor dining is a key initiative in our business recovery efforts," said DTSM, Inc. CEO Kathleen Rawson. "We are so inspired by the resilience and innovation of the businesses as they continue to navigate change. We know that these talented and determined restaurateurs will continue to play a critical role in our economic recovery."

Downtown Santa Monica is home to hundreds of dining, shopping, entertainment, and wellness experiences which continue to creatively activate the outdoor public and private space. Restaurants currently utilizing the expanded Promenade outdoor dining space include The Britannia Pub, Lanea, and The Misfit, with The Independence, and West 4th & Jane expected soon. Existing Promenade restaurants offering outdoor dining include 1212, Casa Martin, Cabo Cantina, Silverlake Ramen, Johnny Rockets, Barney's Beanery and the freshly opened Cult.
