Britons Will Work From Home Again, as Great Britain Moves to "Plan B"

Moving to Plan B may 'buy time' for the National Health Service and others to study the Omicron strain

12/9/21: At a press conference Thursday morning London time, British PM Boris Johnson said the country should move to Plan B. People should work from home once again, he said. Citing the danger of Omicron varian of corona-virus, Johnson said that Omicron could cause 1,000 hospital admissions a day by the end of the year.

The UK's Prime Minister said it was necessary to move to Plan B to 'buy time' for the National Health Service to study the Omicron strain. 'It has become increasingly clear that Omicron is growing much faster than the previous Delta variant and is spreading rapidly all around the world,' he said.

He added that 568 cases had been documented in Britain, and that 'the true number is certain to be much higher' - perhaps as high as 10,000. 'Most worryingly, there is evidence that the doubling time of Omicron could currently be between two and three days.'

Masks will be required in venues such as cinemas and he said. Hotels and motels would be exempt. Johnson said that negative lateral flow tests will be acceptable as well as NHS Covid passports at venues such as nightclubs and large events.

The Omicron variant is believed to be far more infectious than other variants of Covid-19. It is possible however, the it causes less severe symptoms. This is not yet certain.
