Prominent Local Couple Dead in Venice Murder-Suicide. Mandy Zelinka, Jeremy Ferguson's Wife, Was 49.

Jeremy Ferguson, a longtime operations director for Downtown Santa Monica Inc., and his wife, Mandy Zelinka, were found dead inside their Venice home this week in an incident Los Angeles police are investigating as a possible murder‑suicide.

Police and first responders were called Tuesday to the 600 block of Superba Avenue in Venice, where officers discovered both victims with fatal gunshot wounds, according to LAPD statements and a coroner’s report. The L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed Zelinka’s death; the medical examiner’s office is continuing its examination of the other victim’s cause and manner of death.

Ferguson, who served as director of operations for Downtown Santa Monica Inc., had been a visible figure in the city’s business-improvement efforts and community events. Colleagues and local officials have not yet released public statements on the circumstances of his and Zelinka’s deaths.

LAPD detectives are treating the case as an apparent murder‑suicide while they continue their investigation.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Ferguson’s wife, 49-year-old Mandy Zelinka, died April 21, 2026, inside the residence. Her exact cause of death was not immediately released.According to the Daily Breeze, Ferguson left behind a suicide note that included directions on how to access the couple’s property.

Neighbors and community members at the scene described a heavy police presence Tuesday while investigators processed the house. Authorities have asked anyone with information related to the incident to contact the LAPD’s homicide detectives.

No arrests have been announced. The investigation remains active and ongoing; the department urged patience as detectives work to confirm the sequence of events and complete forensic procedures.
