Off The Hook: Porsche driver rips bumper off while fleeing tow truck in Glendale

GLENDALE, Calif. - A Porsche Panamera driver tore the car's rear bumper off Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, while trying to escape a tow truck that had already lifted the vehicle's rear wheels off the ground.

Video posted by Instagram account @kakonauto shows the sedan hooked to the truck with its back end suspended. The driver then accelerated. The car's all-wheel-drive system pulled it free, dragging the tow arm down the street as the bumper ripped away and other parts scattered onto the roadway. The driver then sped from the scene.

The vehicle appears to be a current-generation Panamera, a luxury sedan that typically costs more than $100,000 new. Reports say the escape also damaged the car's suspension.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed why the car was being towed. Online commenters have suggested either an illegal-parking pickup or a repossession over unpaid loan payments. Those circumstances remain unverified.
