A 39-year-old woman was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving for triggering a eight-vehicle crash on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in Palms Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said. At least one car was engulfed in flames, but no injuries were reported. A professional dog walker in Santa Monica was charged with child endangerment after a 4-year-old girl was bitten in the leg by a Staffordshire terrier, law enforcement authorities said Tuesday evening. Rebecca McGroerty, 26, was with the dog inside a home in the 2300 block of 23rd Street when the girl was attacked on Oct. 19, according to the Santa Monica Police Department. The "Ramp Jam" is finally over on the Westside. The Wilshire Boulevard onramp to the northbound 405 Freeway reopened Thursday after a two-month closure. This was the last ramp on that interchange that needed to be rebuilt. The ramp closure caused many headaches and complaints about gridlock from residents living near the freeway. The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program has unveiled a plan to help improve the Samohi campus's transportation issues, proposing new bike routes, the rerouting of streets near the school and other improvements in the neighboring areas.
